Our Philosophy

CUĺT symbolizes crispness and crunchiness in a well-baked loaf. That amber caramelized crisp crust against the custardy interior are what make for a great loaf. This informs our approach to baking.

We believe simplicity, intention and attention are what makes for a remarkable food experience – the best processes and ingredients. We believe good bread is and should be nourishing and can be a foundation of all good food; anyone can make themselves a great meal with just a well-made, flavorful loaf and the simplest of ingredients.

Classic flavors are at our core. We look beyond trend driven aesthetics to find quality in craftsmanship. We do not attempt to reinvent the classics, but rather, better or elevate them by using the best processes and ingredients. After all classic flavors are what we always crave and fall back to.

Our Promise

Simplicity & execution

No additives, preservatives and artificial flavorings. Only the best ingredients and practices and the purest of intention.

Freshness

All of our bread are only baked on the day of sale. They are as fresh as they can be.

Artisanal

Each day, our bakers read and interpret daily nuances – temperature, humidity, the condition of the flour and the sourdough starter before we begin our day. That relentless attention to detail coupled with patience and hard work honed our craftsmanship that touches each of our loaves.

Our Story

CUĺT was borne out of the founders’ frustration on the lack of good sourdough in Hong Kong; most of the bread on the market are rushed and mass-produced which often lead to under-fermented dough, and as a result, easily stales, lacks nutrition and flavors. Our founders believe that quality is founded in craftsmanship – bread in small batches, by hand, slow-fermented and baked well-done.
